ABOUT DELHI JUDICIARY EXAMINATION 2024: ELIGIBILITY, PATTERN, MARKING SCHEME & APPLICATION FORM

One of the most challenging examinations in India is the Delhi Judiciary Services Examination. Thousands of applicants take exams each year in the hopes of becoming judges. Applicants need to be graduates of an accredited university with a law degree in order to sit for the exam. The Delhi High Court administers the examination, which is available to all Indian nationals with a law degree from an accredited university.

The High Court of Delhi and lower courts will appoint applicants who pass the Delhi Judicial Services Exam as judicial officers by taking proper education from various RJS Coaching institutes. A judicial officer’s duties include making decisions, hearing cases, and supervising court sessions. They must also handle personnel management and keep up with court documents, among other administrative tasks.

Delhi Judiciary Examination: Eligibility Requirements

Candidates must fulfill the age and educational standards set forth by the High Court of Delhi in order to sit for the Delhi Judiciary examination. The following requirements are listed in the Delhi Judiciary examination notification for potential applicants:

• The applicant needs to be an Indian national.
  
• They must be licensed to practice law in India or meet the requirements set forth in the Advocate ACT of 1961 in order to be accepted.
  
• On January 1st of the year they apply, candidates cannot be older than 32. Reserved candidates are eligible for a waiver of some of these requirements.

Whatever the situation, the High Court of Delhi has the last say over an applicant’s eligibility.

Delhi Judiciary Examination: Pattern

There are three phases to the Delhi Judiciary exam as discussed in various RJS Coaching institutes: preliminary, mains, as well as viva voce.

• The DJS Preliminary Examination: It is a knowledge-based exam with an objective approach. It aids in qualifying those who are competing for the subsequent round. It lasts two hours and is made up of 150 questions with one mark each.
  
• The DJS Mains Examination: Written exams are the focus of this stage which contains four written examinations of four different subjects in law. It delves further into language, legal, and general knowledge comprehension.

Delhi Judiciary Examination: Marking Scheme

As discussed by various RJS Coaching institutes, there are different marking schemes for three different stages of the exams:

The DJS Preliminary Examination

• Objective-style questions make up the Preliminary Question Paper Examination.
  
• There are 150 questions with 150 marks (1 mark per question), and each incorrect response will result in a 0.25-mark deduction.
  
• The paper attempt will take two hours to complete.
  
• A candidate may appear in the main exam if they have passed the preliminary exams.
  
• For the General Category in the preliminary exam, the minimum qualifying score is 60%, while for the Reserved Categories, it is 55%.

The DJS Mains Examination

• Paper I will take two hours of the four papers in the main examination, while Papers II, III, and IV will take three hours each. The exam will be given in a descriptive answer writing manner.
  
• There will be 250 marks in Paper I of the Mains Examination, and 200 marks in Papers II, III, and IV (each).
  
• The four Mains Exam question papers will include the following:

Paper 1: Language and General Knowledge

Paper 2: Civil Law I

Paper 3: Civil Law II

Paper 4: Criminal Law

• For both the general category and the reserved categories, the minimum scores needed to qualify for each paper in the main exam are 40% and 35%, respectively.

The DJS Viva-Voce

• In order to be considered for the Viva Voce, candidates who attempt the mains also have to meet the required cutoff percentages for the DJS Mains.
  
• No more than ten times the total number of positions available will be chosen as applicants for the Viva Voce.
  
• In the Viva Voce, candidates in the general category must score at least 50% to be deemed successful.
  
• Candidates in the Reserved Category must score at least 45% on the Viva Voce.

Delhi Judiciary Examination: Application Procedure

Those with an interest must apply online on the Delhi High Court’s official website using the manner provided. They have to attentively review the Delhi Judiciary Service examination notification before completing the application form. Submit the application after completing the form and uploading a scanned copy of your ID and signature. It is not necessary for candidates to mail the High Court a printed copy of their application.

• Visit the Delhi High Court’s official website. Enter the gateway.
  
• Fill out the registration form by providing your name, date of birth, email address, and password.
  
• When you finish the registration process, you will be given a user ID and password.
  
• Continue to the account and fill out the application by using the login credentials.
  
• Enter all required fields, including those for communication as well as personal information.
  
• Upload the necessary documents in the format specified, having been scanned.
  
• Online, pay the appropriate category fee. For future reference, print off the DJS examination application form.
