The RJS (Rajasthan Judicial Service) exam is conducted by the Rajasthan High Court for the recruitment of civil judges in the state as per the Rajasthan Judicial Services Act, 2010. The examination is generally conducted annually, and every year thousands of students appear for the examination.

- Qualifications
Any candidate possessing the following qualifications may appear for the RJS exam:
- Must be a citizen of India.
- Must have completed the age of 21 years and should not be more than 40 years of age. Also, 5 years of age relaxation are given to people belonging to Scheduled Caste, Schedule Tribe, Other Backward Classes, Economic Weaker Sections, and the female category of Rajasthan.
- Must have a degree of bachelor of law (LLB), 3 or 5 years from any university established by law in India and is recognized under the Advocates Act, 1961, and
- Through knowledge of Hindi written in Devnagiri script and Rajasthani dialects and culture
NOTE: It is to be noted that a candidate in even his final year or semester is also eligible to appear for the preliminary examination, provided that he submits proof of his graduation within 7 days of holding the main examination. Failing this, he shall be disqualified from the examination and will not be called for the interview round, even if he secures the minimum qualifying marks to clear the main examination.
- Scheme of the Examination
Knowing the scheme of the examination beforehand is crucial before appearing for any judiciary exam as recommended by every judiciary coaching in Jaipur.
The RJS exam is conducted in the following three stages:

- Preliminary examination
Preliminary is an objective-type single paper consisting of 100 marks for 100 questions. Each question carries one mark, and there is no negative marking. The duration of the preliminary exam is 2 hours. The exam paper is primarily bifurcated into three subjects (the syllabus of which is mentioned below): law, Hindi, and English. The law portion consists of 70 marks, and the remaining 30 marks would be for language: 15 for Hindi and 15 for English. The marks obtained in the preliminary rounds are not counted to determine the final merit list. The number of candidates to be admitted to the main examination will be fifteen times the total number of vacancies (category-wise). Additionally, to qualify for the preliminary exam, a candidate must secure 45% marks or 40% marks in the case of a candidate from the SC/ST category.

- Main Examination Themain examination is a pen-and-paper based subjective paper. The number of candidates to be admitted to the interview is three times the total number of vacancies, category-wise. Also, to qualify for an interview, a candidate is required to secure a minimum of 35% marks in each of the law papers and 40% marks in aggregate in the main examination; and a candidate belonging to the Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe category is required to obtain a minimum of 30% marks in each of the law papers and 35% marks in aggregate in the main examination.

- 3. Interview
The last stage of the examination is the interview, which is to test the overall personality of the candidate. The questions are mostly from current legal affairs or static legal knowledge, conceptual questions on law and about Rajasthan state, which may include Rajasthan’s culture and history.
